About me

My name is Melissa and I’m a psychodynamic counsellor trained through The Counselling Foundation, where I completed the Foundation Certificate, two‑year Diploma and two‑year Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling. Alongside my training, I spent three years volunteering as a counsellor for a charity, supporting adults through a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties. This experience gave me a strong grounding in therapeutic work and shaped the steady, reflective approach I bring to my practice today.

I also have experience working as a counsellor in a school, supporting children with emotional and social challenges. During this time, I completed a Level 5 qualification in counselling children and young people, which included learning in creative play and symbolic communication. Although my private practice currently focuses on adults, this background enriches my understanding of emotional expression and the different ways people communicate their inner world.

I aim to offer a warm, grounded space where you can talk openly, feel understood, and begin to make sense of what feels difficult in your life.

How I work

I offer a warm, reflective space where you can explore your experiences thoughtfully and without judgement. Working psychodynamically means we look together at your thoughts, feelings and patterns with care and curiosity. Many people come to therapy feeling unsure or overwhelmed, so we move gently and at a pace that feels right for you. You don’t need to carry everything alone — therapy can help you understand yourself and what feels difficult in a more grounded way. Over time, therapy can help you find clarity and make sense of feelings or situations that currently feel confusing or overwhelming.

My approach is steady and collaborative. Rather than rushing or pushing for answers, I offer a consistent weekly space where you can take time to notice what comes up, reflect on patterns, and begin to make sense of your inner world. We explore both what is happening in the present and how past experiences may be shaping your feelings, relationships and responses today.

Therapy can support you through many different experiences — anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, or periods of change and uncertainty. Whatever you bring, my focus is on creating a safe, thoughtful environment where you feel met with care and where we can explore what matters to you at a pace that feels manageable.
